Arkane and Valve's The Crossing on hold
Single/multiplayer FPS hybrid put aside due to "an unexpected financial challenge"
The Crossing, a single and multiplayer first-person shooter hybrid developed by Arkane Studios and Valve, has been put on indefinite hold.
The project was put aside due to "an unexpected financial challenge some months ago," Arkane CEO Raphael Colantonio told Joystiq.
Colantonio added that the studio is working on two other projects. In September GamesIndustry.biz revealed one of these as a "casual strategy" card game for the iPhone. The other is reportedly a first-person role-playing game designed by Deus Ex lead Harvey Smith.
In November, staff and project reductions at Electronic Arts hit Arkane. It is unknown if this was the "financial challenge" Colantonio referred to above.
