What went into "the best Splinter Cell level ever made"
Clint Hocking and Mathieu Berube video walks through through Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory's Panamanian bank heist
More than a decade after its release, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory remains the best-reviewed installment in the stealth series to date, according to Metacritic. It also includes what creative director Clint Hocking believes is "the best Splinter Cell level ever made," as he proclaims in a newly posted Let's Play video with the level's designer, Mathieu Berube.
Hocking and Berube took a breather from their current project at Ubisoft Toronto to revisit Chaos Theory's Panamanian bank heist level in a 49-minute-long YouTube playthrough of the game's Xbox 360 re-release. Over the course of the video, the pair discusses the philosophy behind the game's level design, merging linear narrative while allowing for expressive gameplay, and what Metal Gear Solid feature they're kicking themselves for not thinking of first.
