We R Interactive gets €150,000 EU funding
Appoints Geoff Heath as advisor for new music title
Social games developer We R Interactive has received a €150,000 grant for the pre-production of a new music game, I Am Star.
Alongside the new funding the company has also appointed Geoff Heath, who founded NCSoft Europe and spent his early career in the music industry, taking ATV into music publishing, acquiring Northern Songs for £10 million and was eventually recognised for his work with an Ivor Novello award.
"There is a rich heritage in console based music games that have proven there's an appetite for user interaction, yet to date interactive music has not successfully translated to social platforms," commented We R Interactive's Elio Leoni-Sceti.
The new title is funded by the MEDIA programme - designed to strengthen the competitiveness of the European film, TV and new media industries.
"The UK has tremendous heritage in games, music and film, the combination of which has tremendous global potential," added CEO David Rose.
"So much has been stated about the lack of support for the UK industry in comparison to global competition, therefore it's fantastic to see a UK games company recognised through this European MEDIA grant. Geoff's insight and huge experience will be vital to helping us realise our ambitions."
