Ubisoft Vancouver closes doors

Pure Futbol studio hasn't "found the right formula for success"

Ubisoft has shut down its Vancouver studio, best known for its work on sports titles.

"Ubisoft confirms that we have made the difficult decision to close its studio in Vancouver," a Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game Informer.

"Unfortunately, we haven't found the right formula for success for the talented team there. We thank our Vancouver team for their hard work and the projects that they have delivered."

Ubisoft Vancouver was previously Action Pants, but the team of 110 was acquired in 2009. The studio had worked on titles like Pure Futbol and Motionsports Adrenaline.

"Team members will have the opportunity to consider positions in other Ubisoft studios and we will work with each of them to help find the best next step, whether it be within Ubisoft or outside."

Ubisoft did not confirm how man jobs were lost in the closure.

In December last year Ubisoft opened a new development studio in Abu Dhabi, capital city of the United Arab Emirates.
