Trilogy launches new development platform
Firefly framework for social and casual multiplayer online games
Trilogy Studios, a California social game developer, has revealed its new Firefly development platform, intended as a technology framework for producing social and casual multiplayer online games. Several social games using the platform are already in development by Trilogy.
The company also announced the signing of PlaySpan as its preferred partner for subscription and digital goods monetisation for all games developed using the new platform. The partnership will take advantage of PlaySpan's UltimatePay transaction service, which allows over 85 methods of payment worldwide.
"We expect the combined service to be put in use immediately by several major studios and content publishers looking to maximise revenue opportunities in a seamless and cost effective manner," said Karl Mehta, founder and CEO of PlaySpan.
"We've spent the past five years building up an expertise in social and casual games, and now have a complete platform in Firefly to quickly deliver massive, immersive games for leading content publishers," added Michael Pole, Trilogy Studios' CEO.
The Firefly platform enables web-based MMOs by fitting game features into a smaller footprint, allowing "nearly instantaneous access" to games through a browser.
