Tiga offers grants to exhibit at trade shows

British companies can apply for support up to £1800 to attend Gamescom, TGS, Game Connection and GDC

Tiga is to offer support for UK businesses looking to attend four key industry trade shows in the 2009-2010 season.

The developer's representative body secured GBP 125,600 from UK Trade & Investment and is accepting applications from UK games businesses to attend Gamescom in Cologne and The Tokyo Games Show this September as well as Game Connection Europe in Lyon in November and GDC in San Francisco in March 2010.

"Tiga will intensify its engagement with policy makers, maximise our industry's media profile and strengthen the range of benefits available to Tiga members throughout 2009," said Richard Wilson, CEO of Tiga.

"As an accredited trade organisation, Tiga can work with UKTI's Tradeshow Access Programme in supporting UK businesses looking to exhibit at overseas trade shows."

"I am delighted that Tiga will be able to help many games businesses and am grateful to UKTI for their confidence in and support for the UK games development sector."

The scheme will only be available to small and medium sized businesses and the maximum amount will be limited to less than GBP 2000.

Aleks Krotoski, of UKTI, explained: "Tiga and UKTI continue to support UK companies seeking new business in a sector that is growing despite the economic downturn."

"UKTI's Tradeshow Access Programme is open to small and medium-sized businesses to enable them to participate in overseas trade fairs. Businesses can apply for grants of up to £1800 to take part in a list of eligible events."
