Swordfish Birmingham acquisition expected this week

Formal announcement on future of 50 Cent developer due in next few days

Following the acquisition of its Manchester studio, GamesIndustry.biz understands that Swordfish Studios' main team in Birmingham has also been snapped up, with a formal announcement expected in the next few days.

Monumental Games picked up 26 Swordfish employees yesterday along with studio head Mike Delves.

The developer of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand has been up for sale since Activision Blizzard decided to offload a number of its internal studios.

Earlier this week, Ubisoft swooped for Massive Entertainment, picking up the rights to its franchise World in Conflict.
