Studio director Chris Lee steps back from Halo Infinite
Latest in a series of high-profile departures from the project in recent years
343 Industries studio director Chris Lee is no longer working on Halo Infinite.
Lee and Microsoft confirmed his departure from the project to Bloomberg today, though he remains a Microsoft employee.
"I have stepped back from Infinite and I am looking at future opportunities," Lee said in a statement.
"I believe in the team and am confident they will deliver a great game and now is a good time for me to step away."
Lee was first appointed as 343 Industries studio head in 2017, following the departure of Dan Ayoub to work on educational mixed reality initiatives elsewhere within Microsoft.
Prior to that, he was executive producer on Halo 5, and has been working with 343 since 2008.
Lee's departure comes just one month after long-time Halo developer and writer Joseph Staten was brought back to serve as project lead for the game's single-player campaign to get the game back on track, following its delay from an Xbox Series launch title into 2021.
At the same time, Pierre Hintze was also brought in to lead development of the game's multiplayer experience.
Halo Infinite has seen a number of high profile departures throughout its recent development, including lead producer Mary Olson in October of last year and creative director Tim Longo the month before that.
