Sony to support game development in Taiwan
A number of initiatives planned to encourage development of games for Chinese market
Sony Computer Entertainment is planning a wealth of development initiatives in Taiwan that it hopes will help to establish the PlayStation 3 in the country and result in games being created specifically for mainland China
In cooperation with Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, SCE plans to nurture and support the local software development industry with technologies and technical guidance, while also investing in education at university level, reports Nikkei.
As well as the transfer of its technologies, SCE will introduce PlayStation 3 game producers from both Japan and the West to developers in Taiwan.
For its part, the Ministry of Economic Affairs plans to subsidise 40 per cent of the cost of software development and technology licensing that the Taiwanese studios incur.
