Simplygon appoints Matt Connors as its new CEO

Apple and Adobe vet will oversee further global expansion

Simplygon has appointed Matt Connors, a product marketing veteran with experience at Apple and Adobe, as its new CEO.

Connors has served as an advisor to the Swedish company for more than seven years already, so the transition to his new role is expected to be seamless.

"He has always had a strong vision for Simplygon and, in particular, how to apply our core technology in new markets," said Koshi Hamedi, one of Simplygon's co-founders, and now an evangelist for the company. "As we look to the future, it made perfect sense to formally bring Matt on to lead the company."

One of Connors' main responsibilities will be international growth. According to the company, Simplygon's art optimisation tools are already used by 60 per cent of the top 25 games of 2014-2015, but games industries are now springing up all over the world.

Simplygon already has offices in Sweden, the US, Japan, Korea and China, and more will be established under Connors' leadership.

"We have an extremely talented team and great technology," Connors added. "The company is poised for growth in both our core video game market and for real-time enterprise and consumer visualisation experiences."
