Scopely acquires Genjoy
Match-three developer and its 150 employees add to Scopely's presence in Spain
Mobile publisher Scopely has acquired Spanish developer Genjoy for an undisclosed sum.
The Seville-based studio is best known for match-three and puzzle game Tuscany Villa, which tasks players with transforming an old mansion into a hotel in between the match-three levels.
The game was launched back in April, and Scopely will work with Genjoy to grow its player base.
Genjoy employs around 150 people, all of whom will now be part of Scopely, according to the announcement.
The studio marks the third office Scopely owns in Spain, with two more in Barcelona: one an internal development team, the other dedicated to other specialties such as engineering, analytics and customer support.
Genjoy is one of several studios to join the Scopely empire this year. Back in April, the mobile publisher acquired PierPlay, the developer of Scrabble Go.
It also purchased two studios from Disney back in January, bringing FoxNext and Cold Iron Studios into the fold following the Disney-Fox merger.
