Rockstar, Codeworks make MediaGuardian 100

Games companies make impressions in influential power list

Rockstar's Sam and Dan Houser and Codeworks' Herb Kim have made entries in this year's MediaGuardian 100, the annual list of economic, cultural and political influence in the UK.

Sam and Dan Houser made a new entry at number 28, just above Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, while Kim, chief executive of Codeworks - responsible for annual northern games event GameHorizon - was at 83, above Peter Salmon, director of BBC North.

The Houser's influence has leapt from last year where they were runners-up in the 101 spot, while Kim was singled out for his work in promoting regional development and becoming "a bit of a hero in the north-east."

In the top ten, Apple's Steve Jobs holds the number one position pushing down Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Twitter's chief executive Evan Williams is at five this year, and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook at seven.
