Staff from VR game developers Ready At Dawn and Downpour Interactive are among those affected by the latest round of mass layoffs at Meta.
Last month, the Facebook firm announced it would lay off 10,000 staff by the end of 2023. This followed an additional 11,000 job cuts announced in November.
The next round of layoffs began this week, with employees from Ready At Dawn and Downpour Interactive revealing they had been let go via Twitter, Eurogamer reports.
Among those affected at Ready At Dawn were technical designer Colin McInerney and senior engine/graphics programmer Thomas Griebel, who claimed "[one third] of the studio was laid off today, including the studio head."
Downpour's senior designer Michael Tsarouhas and studio level designer Daan van Zelst both indicated they were among those dismissed from that company.
Meta acquired Ready At Dawn in 2020, purchasing Downpour a year later.
Ready At Dawn is best known as the developer for VR series Lone Echo, as well as various PlayStation exclusives such as The Order: 1886 and the God of War titles for PSP. Meanwhile, Downpour Interactive created VR military simulator/shooter Onward.
