NASSCOM GDC rebrands as The India Game Developer Conference
This year's conference will run alongside new week-long games and animation festival IndiaJoy
The organisers behind the NASSCOM Game Developer Conference are preparing for a full rebrand this year.
As of 2018, the event will be known as the India Game Developer Conference - or IGDC, for short - and is part of growing efforts to showcase the nation's local games industry. Related events, such as the NGF Awards will be similarly rebranded.
The proceedings will once again be held at the HICC in Hyderabad, running from December 4th to 5th. This year marks the tenth anniversary for the conference.
It will also be the flagship event for a new initiative, IndiaJoy: a week-long showcase of games, animation and VFX organised by the State of Telangana.
Other IndiaJoy conferences and events will be announced in the weeks to come, but Unity will hold its second Unite India alongside IGDC, running from December 5th to 6th.
"On the 10th anniversary of the conference we decided that it was time to rebrand NGDC to The India Game Developer Conference, to more accurately reflect a platform that has grown from strength to strength over the last decade, to become the must-attend conference for games in India," said chair of the IGDC advisory committee Rajesh Rao.
Submissions for speaker opportunities at IGDC 2018 are now open.
