MocoSpace doubles HTML5 dev fund

Mobile game community offering $2 million to HTML5 developers

Mobile game community MocoSpace has doubled its HTML5 development fund, which now stands at $2 million.

MocoSpace is a champion of HTML5 as a platform for game development, as it allows developers to create games for browsers and side-step app stores.

"You want the user experience to be enjoyable and not frustrating," said CEO Justin Siegel in a statement.

"People want to be able to play games with their friends, no matter what kind of device they have. The best way to make a great cross-platform social gaming experience is to build with HTML5."

The MocoSpace platform has 22 million users, and has already helped the development of several free-to-play games using the fund, inlcuding New Game Town's Cage Fighter, Upgraded Studios' In The Club, and Celander US Inc.'s Goosy Avatar and Goosy Pets.

Facebook is poised to release its own HTML5-based platform, Project Spartan, before the end of the year.
