Microsoft to add mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One
Warframe will introduce the new feature, which can be used at the developer's discretion
Microsoft is adding support for mouse and keyboard to its Xbox One consoles.
The feature will be made available to select testers - or "Xbox Insiders," to use Microsoft's terminology - some time in the next few weeks. In a blog post announcing the news, the company stressed that developers could employ mouse and keyboard controls, "if and how they choose."
"It's important to note that mouse and keyboard support for games is added on a title-by-title basis, entirely at developers' discretion. For all other titles, nothing changes," Microsoft said.
"Mouse and keyboard input is not enabled by default for games. Each development team knows their titles best and we support them in creating the right experience for their games as they see fit, to ensure an optimal and fair gaming experience."
Warframe will be among the first games to make use of mouse and keyboard on Xbox One, but Microsoft has promised to reveal more games in the November 10 edition of Inside Xbox. It will also offer more details on a hardware partnership with Razer.
