Massive Entertainment founder to launch MMO quiz
World in Conflict dev Walfisz reveals new project
The former founder and CEO of Massive Entertainment, Martin Walfisz, has announced his first game project with new company Planeto.
Entitled Planeto Quiz, the studio's first game will combine elements of titles such as World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online with the immediacy and accessibility of a traditional quiz game.
The free-to-play game will initially be made available on the web with plans to migrate to mobile platforms and consoles later on.
"With Planeto Quiz we decided to take the most fun and popular aspects of online role-playing games, but package them for a global, casual audience. In our games there is no need to run around wielding a sword and killing orcs," said Walfisz.
"World of Warcraft and similar games are great fun but mainly cater to a niche audience interested in fantasy role-playing. Planeto Quiz gives our players the same depth, but in a much more accessible and inclusive environment."
Planeto was formed by Walfisz, along with Magnus Robertson, earlier this year. Walfisz had previously left his company Massive Entertainment after 12 years following its sale to Ubisoft.
The Massive founder declined Ubisoft's offer to manage the studio saying it was not the right employer for him at that time. However, he confirmed his intention to remain in the videogame industry and co-founded Planeto shortly afterwards.
Planeto Quiz is currently at closed beta stage and will shortly be inviting interested users to participate via its website.
