Mafia, Operation Flashpoint devs form new studio

Former 2K Czech and Bohemia Interactive staff leave to form Warhorse Studios

Key members of 2K Czech and Bohemia Interactive have formed a new studio, Warhorse.

2K Czech was the studio behind the Mafia games, and Bohemia Interactive created the Operation Flashpoint IP. The new company will be led by Daniel Vávra, the creator of the Mafia series and director on the first game.

"There is a common thread running through our previous games: open worlds, strong storyline and, last but not least, realistic design," reads a statement on the official website.

"We can proudly say that the games Mafia and Operation Flashpoint were the vanguard of this approach and millions of players worldwide clearly share our view. Even if our new project is different in many respects, it is a game that is not going to disappoint fans of open realistic worlds and quality stories."

The development team includes Martin Klíma, the author of Dragon's Lair, Viktor Bocan, designer on Operation Flashpoint and ARMA, and Zbynek Trávnivký, an animator and visual-effects specialist on the Mafia series.

The studio is currently recruiting for its first project, a AAA role-playing game.
