Long-time Battlefield developer Lars Gustavsson departs EA

The creative director leaves the gaming firm after 22 years of working on the FPS franchise

EA has announced that long-time Battlefield developer Lars Gustavsson is departing from the company and developer DICE.

As reported by GameSpot, the creative director will be moving on to an unnamed new opportunity.

Gustavsson joined EA via its DICE subsidary in 2000 and for 20 years he's worked on the FPS franchise. During his time with the series he went on to be known as Mr. Battlefield.

"I've dedicated a substantial portion of my life to Battlefield and I'm very proud to have helped shape this franchise into what it is today. However, I think it's time for something new," he said.

The news of Gustavsson's departure from EA also took place during the announcement launch for Ridgeline Games, a studio dedicated to the development of a new Battlefield campaign.
