King's chief legal officer joins Improbable

Rob Miller hired after five years at King, Michael Bannon appointed CFO

King's chief legal officer, Rob Miller, has departed to take the same role at the London-based tech startup Improbable.

As chief legal officer, Miller will be responsible for Improbable's legal, regulatory and compliance issues, in addition to advising on overall strategy and potential partnerships.

And Miller is well placed to do so, having spent five very productive years at King, in which he led its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and played a pivotal role in the $5.9 billion acquisition deal with Activision Blizzard. He was also King's corporate secretary.

In addition to hiring Miller, Improbable has also secured a new chief financial officer: Michael Bannon, who has joined the company from the private investment firm TPG Capital, which had some $70 billion of assets in its portfolio. Bannon worked at TPG for 12 years, finishing as principal and head of consumer.

Improbable is the company behind SpatialOS, an technology for simulating complex virtual worlds. It opened a San Francisco office in January.
