King purchases AI firm Peltarion
Founders Crnkovic-Friis and Måns Essén join the Candy Crush maker's leadership team to improve AI in games
Yesterday mobile developer and Candy Crush maker King announced that it's purchased AI software developer Peltarion.
With the acquisition the mobile game firm intends to increase its use of AI and machine learning technology in its games.
Based in Sweden, Peltarion was established in 2004 by Luka Crnkovic-Friis and Måns Essén, the company's first platform Synapse was released that same year.
It has helped companies and organization such as NASA, Tesla, and Harvard with its technology.
"We believe the talented Peltarion team, together with the powerful technology they have built, will help us serve our players even more effectively with more engaging games and content."
"This is yet another step towards our mission of making the world playful," said President of King Tjodolf Sommestad.
Additionally, Crnkovic-Friis and Måns Essén will go on to have new leadership positions in King focusing on the improvement of AI.
