GTA cheat developers have assets frozen in crackdown
Australian federal court approves search and seizure orders against creators of "Infamous" cheat
Rockstar Games and Take-Two have had a recent history of taking legal action against cheat makers for their games, especially Grand Theft Auto V. And last month, this action took the form of a search and asset seizure against the Australian developers of a particularly well-known cheat.
TorrentFreak reports that the court order, filed last month, is against five people who are believed to be connected to a notable GTA V cheat known as "Infamous." The five are to be prohibited from cheating or distributing cheating software, and have additionally had their assets (including digital and cryptocurrency) frozen.
Though initially these limitations were only to be in place for the duration of the order, TorrentFreak reports that a follow-up order has been issued that extends the freezing order.
In addition, search orders were given for two Melbourne locations to identfy, copy, and remove any physical or digital documents related to the Infamous cheat.
Earlier this year, Take-Two won a US court case against David Zipperer, which resulted in him being barred from selling GTA Online cheat software.
