Google launches Indie Games Accelerator in Asia
Four-month program builds on Launchpad Accelerator, dozens of expert mentors already on board
Google has opened applications for a brand new accelerator designed to nurture indie games studios in key Asian markets.
The Indie Games Accelerator is a four-month program and is open to any games start-ups from India, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Vietnam. Selected studios will be flown to Singapore for two bootcamps at Google's Asia HQ.
According to the program's website, the venture is built from the successful Launchpad Accelerator that Google has run in other markets, and will teach start-ups best practices in everything from general design to using Unity and building games for Android devices.
It will also cover business development, including user acquisition and monetisation advice, as well as how to build your studio and find the best talent.
Google has secured the support of dozens of gaming and Android experts for the accelerator, including its own former chief game designer Noah Falstein, Vlambeer's Rami Ismail, Hipster Whale's Matt Hall and FarmVille creator Mark Skaggs.
Selected applicants will also have their games showcased on the Google Play store and receive credits for further training and support.
Applications are open now, with a deadline of July 31st. The first wave of studios chosen will be announced in early August, with the two bootcamps held in Singapore during September and November.
