Freeplay Independent Games Festival winners announced

Facepalm Games scores best international game for The Swapper

The 2011 Freeplay Independent Games Festival has picked the winners of its annual awards, with Facepalm Games' The Swapper taking home the title of best international game.

"The awards reflect both the values of the festival and the wide range of projects being created locally and overseas," said Paul Callaghan, director of Freeplay.

"We were incredibly impressed with the diversity, experimentation, vision, and creativity of all the entries, and look forward to seeing that continue in 2012."

As well as The Swapper, winners included Antichamber for best Australian game and best design, Warco for best art, and Kingspray for best technical innovation.

The festival is held in Victoria, Australia, and took place August 17 - 21, attracting 1800 visitors.
