ex-Konami producer Dave Cox teams up with MercurySteam

Cox is working with his old Castlevania colleagues on its, "most ambitious game as an independent developer"

MercurySteam is reuniting with Dave Cox, who worked with the Spanish developer during his time as a producer and studio head at Konami.

Cox started at Konami in 1997 and he stayed for 17 years. In that time, which he spent in a series of production roles before becoming studio head at the company's UK offices. Cox worked on Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Pro Evolution Soccer, but he is more closely involved with MercurySteam's 2010 reboot, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

It was a critical hit, ultimately becoming the best-selling game in the franchise. The sequel, Castlevania: Lords of the Fallen, received a more uneven response from the critics, and Konami made no public display of its sales.

Cox is now working with MercurySteam on its new project, an unannounced title that studio head Eric Alvarez described as, "our most ambitious undertaking as an independent studio."

"When I was approached by MercurySteam to get involved in their new project, I jumped at the chance," Cox said in a statement. "It's been my great fortune and pleasure to work with this talented studio over many years. I'm extremely excited about this very ambitious work they're undertaking."

Not much is known about MercurySteam's new game, and the website is home only to a piece of artwork.
