The basic thought behind Respawn is to create a relaxed and unconstrained forum where game developers, trade visitors and students can connect and exchange ideas. The innovative conference and networking concept was welcomed enthusiastically by more than 500 visitors at its premiere last year. Rather than confining speakers and their audiences to closed rooms, the presentations are held on lecture platforms spread out across the venue. This gives Respawn visitors the freedom to spontaneously decide which talks and panel discussions they want to follow. They can either go directly there or simply use the provided wireless headsets to switch to the audio feed of the presentation they find most interesting at any given time. The topics range from Creative, Game Design, Business and Tech to Culture/Communications and Storytelling. On August 13, a shuttle service will be provided between ‘gamescom’ at Kölnmesse and ‘Respawn’ located only one kilometer away at DOCK.ONE.
