Eurogamer Expo to host investment event
London Venture Partners and Paul Durrant among the speakers at Games Invest 2010
Screen Yorkshire and Game Republic are hosting an investment event as part of this year's Eurogamer Expo, with some of the industry's key players already confirmed to speak or attend.
Games Invest 2010 will take place on the first day of the Expo at Earl's Court in London - October 1 - and feature a morning on sessions ahead of a networking lunch, and then full access to the Expo show floor and GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair.
Attendees will also get an opportunity to apply for meetings in the afternoon with investors taking part in a special pitching session, involving a series of half-hour behind-closed-doors meetings.
Among the speakers at the event will be London Venture Partners - formed by Phil Harrison, David Gardner, David Lau-Kee and Paul Heydon - as well as the man in charge of the government-backed prototyping fund at the University of Abertay, Paul Durrant.
Tenshi Ventures (the company set up by former Kuju owners Ian Baverstock and Jonathan Newth), Pembridge and 4iP will also be in attendance.
"The games industry business models are constantly changing and evolving for indie games developers and, as ever, funding for games is a crucial element," said Jamie Sefton, sector manager of Game Republic at Screen Yorkshire. "Games Invest 2010 is a fantastic opportunity for UK games companies to find out more about how to access public and private investment and actually meet with potential investors.
"Plus, as part of the huge Eurogamer Expo at Earl's Court, attendees will also have a chance to get on the Expo floor and play some incredible games!"
Tickets are limited and will be available at a special Early Bird rate of £35 until August 31, going up to £50 thereafter. More information on the event, the meeting application process and ticket booking is available on the official website.
