Drake, Ninja light up Twitch with Fortnite stream
Epic and Twitch say they didn't pay for session that saw rapper and streamer draw more than 600,000 concurrent viewers
High-profile influencers can command a pretty penny, but sometimes they'll do it for love of the game. That was the case when rapper Drake and streamer Ninja teamed up to play Fortnite on Twitch last night, drawing a massive 600,000 concurrent viewers in the process.
Representatives with Twitch and Fortnite developer Epic Games confirmed for GamesIndustry.biz today that neither company compensated either player for the session.
While it's not the most concurrent viewers ever for a Twitch stream (a Counter-Strike tournament in January topped 1.1 million viewers), it appears to be a record for the most concurrent viewers for an individual's Twitch channel. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds streamer DrDisrespect claimed that title last month, when his return to streaming after weeks away from the service for personal issues drew more than 388,000 concurrent viewers.
