Dark Slope secures $1.5 million in seed funding

Toronto-based VR and AR developer Dark Slope has announced today the closing of a seed funding round that has raised over $1.5 million.

The closing of the round coincides with the launch of the studio's first title, the location-based entertainment game Scarygirl Mission Maybee. The seed funding will be used to bring on new hires, as well as improve Dark Slope's free roam technology and create new VR and AR experiences.

In addition to the funding round, Dark Slope has announced the appointment of investor and co-founder of DHX Media Steven DeNure to the company's executive board.

"Technological advancements have put location-based VR and AR applications, tools and experiences at the cusp of widespread adoption by consumers and corporations," said Dark Slope executive chairman Raja Khanna. Dark Slope has also announced that Scarygirl creator Nathan Jurevicius will be appointed as the company's creative director.
