Crytek teams with THQ for new Homefront title
Crysis developer takes on publisher franchise
THQ has drafted in Crysis developer Crytek to make the next Homefront title.
The Homefront was released last year to underwhelming reviews, although the game performed well at retail. The success didn't rub off on original developer Kaos Studios - THQ shut that team down after release and said it creative management of the franchise would be handled in Montreal.
"Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent," said THQ's Danny Bilson, of today's announcement.
"With Crytek's industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we're supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand."
The game is due in THQ's 2014 fiscal year.
