Capcom pledges commitment to multi-platform development
Publisher speaks out following publicised disappointment over Resident Evil Wii sales
Capcom has pledged its commitment to producing games on all platforms following the publicised comments from Capcom France's director general over lacklustre sales of mature games on the Wii.
"Further to comments made in a recent article on French website Gamekult, Capcom would like to confirm its commitment as a multi-platform developer and publisher of interactive software," the company said in a statement.
Exec Antoine Seux expressed his view core gamers had "obviously moved on" from the Wii in an interview with the site published earlier this month.
Seux pointed to poor sales of the company's latest Resident Evil game The Darkside Chronicles on Wii - which, he said, sold 16,000 in its first month - as evidence of a changing Wii market.
Other mature-focused titles such as Dead Rising and The House of the Dead also failed to make significant impact at retail - a situation he suggested could be the result of a broadening Wii audience.
