Bungie goes “digital-first”, offers remote roles in the US

CEO Pete Parsons says “the transition to work-from-home wasn't easy, but the results speak for themselves”

Bungie has started to roll out fully remote positions in selected US states as part of a pivot to digital working.

In an announcement, the developer said that it is now approved to hire remote workers in Washington, California, Oregon, Illinois, Florida, North Carolina and Texas.

The jobs are spread across a number of disciplines across Bungie flagship title Destiny 2, as well as an unannounced project.

"Over the past two years, we have redefined how we work at Bungie," said CEO Pete Parsons. "The transition to work-from-home wasn't easy, but the results speak for themselves. Today, it's clear that a digital-first workplace isn't the future of work -- it is already here, and we are all in."

The company is also offering employees the opportunity to go back to the physical office, but staff are not being forced to, according to community manager Liana Ruppert.

"Bungie has kept us in the loop throughout the process," Ruppert said in a tweet. "While there is the option to go into the office [proof of vax and a health screening is required and provided], largely there has not been pressure to do so."

In contrast, a recent report revealed that Riot Games is asking its LA-based staff to return to the office, as well as dropping vaccine and mask mandates.
