Blimey! Games saved from closure

Director buys business and assets to form new outfit, Slightly Mad Studios

Ian Bell, former director of GT Legends developer Blimey! Games, has bought the company and its assets days after it went into administration.

The studio slipped into administration last week on January 7, following the collapse of its parent company 10tacle Studios last year.

"I am delighted that we have managed to preserve such a fantastic team," commented David Rubin, of administrator David Rubin and Partners.

"To be able to save these jobs and skills when we see so much gloom elsewhere in the labour market is a real testament to the Rescue Culture that my profession and our firm strive to support."

Bell confirmed the new company - called Slightly Mad Studios - will continue the work of Blimey! Games, and it is expected creditors of the company will be able to claim "most, if not all" of any outstanding payments.

"This sale has ended months of uncertainty and worry for all concerned. We can now look forward to the development of our exciting existing and future projects," offered Bell.
