Bigpoint reaches 200 million users
Browser based developer/publisher claims as many users as Twitter
Bigpoint Games, the developer, publisher and distributor of browser-based games such as Battlestar Galactica Online and Farmarama, has reached over 200 million users.
The company notes that its new audience figures put it alongside Twitter's estimated user count, and it has doubled users in only a year and a half, adding approximately 250,000 new users daily. When asked for a geographical breakdown of the 200 million, Bigpoint declined.
Battlestar Galactica Online generated over more than two million registrations over three months, with other Bigpoint games like ZooMumba and Hellblades also attracting players. The games are free-to-play, with gamers offered premium in game items. Bigpoint also boasts over 180 ways for users to pay for those items.
The milestone follows news last week that Bigpoint has made a deal with Russia's largest email provider, Mail.Ru, allowing users of each site to access each other's games through their portals.
