Ascaron vets form new Gaming Minds studio
Kalypso Media's new studio will resume working on Patrician III
Representatives from Kalypso Media have officially announced the formation of Gaming Minds, a game development studio in Germany.
Staffed by fifteen former developers from the bankrupt Ascaron Entertainment, the studio will work on Patrician III, which Kalypso acquired along with other Ascaron assets and IP in April.
"For Kalypso, this move is not just an expansion of our own studio capacities, but will also allow us greater independence in our games development," said Kalypso global managing director Stefan Marcinek. "We currently have four new titles scheduled for release in 2010 which are being developed in our Munich and Gütersloh studios."
Sacred 2 developer and publisher Ascaron entered administration in April. Kalypso acquired "most" brands, intangible assets and exploitation rights from Ascaron, including franchises Darkstar One, Port Royale, and Patrician.
