Respawn, Virtuos, Iam8bit and more triumph at 2021 US Best Places To Work Awards
All 11 badge winners and 6 special award winners revealed
The winners of the first US GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards have been revealed.
The event is all about making the games industry a better place to work, and the awards themselves are decided by an in-depth survey of employees.
Revealed during a special 35-minute online ceremony (which you can check out below), there were 11 US Best Places winners.
The highest scoring small companies (10 - 40 staff) are: Big Run Studios, Phoenix Labs, Pragma Platform and Virtuos.
The best mid-sized companies are: FortySeven Communications, Intellivision, Parsec, Schell Games and Survios.
And the top large companies are: Iron Galaxy Studios and Respawn Entertainment.
All 11 winners went through the Best Places To Work Awards process. In order to take part, they had to fill in an employer form that asked questions around pay, holiday, benefits, social activity, and lots more. This is marked by our team and was worth 25% of their final score.
The bulk of the awards are based on an employee survey. We sent almost 60 statements to staff to agree or disagree with. The survey covered numerous topics including working environment, work/life balance, management, diversity and more. This was worth 75% of the final score.
Alongside 11 badge winners, will also revealed a number of special awards, including the US Best Boss award. The winners of these categories are:
The Diversity Award: Schell Games
The Crisis Management Award: Big Run Studios
The Corporate Social Responsiblity Award: Iam8bit
The Education Award: Virtuos
The Health and Wellbeing Award: Survios
US Best Boss Award: Haden Blackman, Hangar 13
The awards were revealed in a special video ceremony that featured numerous employees from these companies talking about their experiences in the games industry. Check out the video below.
