Microids opens Lyon studio
New office expansion to focus on the development of adventure games
Microids announced today that it has opened a new studio in Lyon France called Microids Studio Lyon.
The company said that the office will be focusing on new adventure games.
Along with the opening, industry veteran David Chomard was named studio director.
Chomard joins Microids from smart home tech company Ubiant, but has previous games industry experience at Bigpoint, Atari, Sega, and more.
"Since Microids had a 64% turnover increase between 2019 and 2020, it appeared logical for us to create a new studio while strengthening the existing projects and investments with the long time partner studios," said Microids CEO Stéphane Longeard.
With its new studio, the company shared that it will be able to shift to full in-house game development. Additionally, Microids said it's currently working on more than 25 titles with multiple studios.
In April Microids signed a publishing deal to create multiple Smurf titles of various genres.
