Mod.io raises $4m

Investment round led by Makers Fund and Sequoia Capital India's Surge

Modding service Mod.io has secured $4 million during its latest funding round.

The cross-platform modding service allows developers to launch their own modding communities across PC, consoles, mobile and VR.

The $4 million round was led by Sequoia Capital India's Surge program and Makers Fund.

Other contributors included Play Ventures, GameTech Ventures and Machinefloor.

The news follows a $1m seed round earlier this year.

Mod.io launched last year, and was formed by parent company ModDB, a long-running and popular modding site.

It is used in over 50 games, including SnowRunner, Skater XL and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. Mods created with Mod.io have been downloaded 65 million times.
