Twitter data shows Nintendo as the winner of E3 2019

Nintendo Direct E3 generated more Twitter activity than Keanu Reeves

Nintendo's video presentation was the most talked about moment of E3 on Twitter, the social media platform has confirmed.

The Nintendo Direct E3 video was less than an hour long, but it proved to be the high-point of E3 in terms of activity on Twitter, according to official data provided to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nintendo was the subject of more tweets than any other publisher across the entire show, with Xbox following on in second place. Sony, which was absent from E3 altogether, was an impressive third -- echoing a trend that ICO Partners noticed in media coverage of the event.

However, the Xbox press conference contained the "second-most tweeted-about moment" in Keanu Reeves' unexpected live appearance. However, it isn't clear why the Nintendo E3 Direct as a whole is considered a "moment," while the same is not true of the entirety of the Xbox press briefing -- of which Reeves' appearance was just one of many significant occurrences.

The third most tweeted about event arrived in the Square Enix press conference, with the segment on Final Fantasy VII and the announcement of Marvel's Avengers.

ICO Partners also noted the volume of press coverage Square Enix received this year, overtaking companies like Ubisoft and Bethesda, which typically get more.
