Gamescom expands to Asia in 2020

Four-day industry conference and games convention will be held in Singapore

The organisers of Gamescom have announced they are taking the event East with a new convention to serve the Asian market.

Gamescom Asia will take place from October 15 to 18, 2020 and will be held at the Suntec Singapore Convention Center.

As with the original Cologne event, the Asian version will be split into industry and public days. October 15 and 16 will host a trade-only conference, while the open exhibition showcasing the latest and upcoming games will be held across the last three days.

Koelnmesse hopes the event will help Asian developers find new partnerships and that it will become "a hub for international publishers who are looking for the next big thing in game."

The organisers aim to recreate much of the ancillary experiences that run alongside the European Gamescom, such as esports events, cosplay celebrations and more.

Gamescom in Cologne is the largest games event in the world, attracting 370,000 people -- including 31,200 trade visitors -- in August 2018. The convention will return to Koelnemesse from August 20 to 24 this year.
