Bigpoint recruits 37 Planet Moon staff
IP and studio name remain separate in "talent acquisition"
Bigpoint has recruited 37 Planet Moon staff to its San Francisco office, nearly doubling the size of that team. The IP and company name of Planet Moon were not part of the deal, instead staying with the founders.
Details of the transaction are as yet unclear, as is the issue of whether Planet Moon will continue as an ongoing concern. Planet Moon's previous IP includes Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Armed & Dangerous, INFECTED, Smarty Pants, After Burner: Black Falcon, Battle of the Bands and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter.
"Less than a year ago we opened our San Francisco office to better address the unique needs of the north American video game market," said Bigpoint CEO Heiko Hubertz.
"The addition of talented staff from Planet Moon to our team, specifically their experience across many platforms, will bolster our efforts as we continue to expand our business and portfolio of online titles to gamers here and around the world."
"We were very happy to work with our colleagues and Heiko's team over the holidays to affect this transition," said Aaron Loeb, CEO, Planet Moon Studios. "The Planet Moonies joining Bigpoint are world class talents. Together with the existing Bigpoint team, they form a particularly formidable studio."
The two teams have already been integrated and are engaged in moving to a new office with space for 250 employees.
