Apple Design Awards honour mobile devs

Flight Control and Doodle Jump amongst games winners

Firemint, Lima Sky and OOO Gameprom have scooped prizes for their iPhone and iPad games in the 2010 Apple Design Awards.

Mobile hits Doodle Jump (Lima Sky LLC) and Pinball HD (OOO Gameprom) were among the gong-takers in the 14th year of the awards, which are now centred around Apple's mobile devices.

Firemint walked home with two awards, one apiece for the iPad Conversion of line-drawing hit Flight Control, and iPhone technical tour de force Real Racing. "We are absolutely thrilled to have been honored with two incredibly prestigious Apple Design Awards," said community manager Alex Peters. "Firemint is the first company in the 14 year history of the awards to have two winning apps in one year."

The awards, a special event at this year's World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco last week, "recognise iPhone OS applications that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation, and technology adaption." Winners are presented with a trophy in the form of a cube emblazoned with a glowing Apple logo.
