Zynga signs content deal with AT&T

Social gaming dev to provide games and perks to carrier’s customers

Zynga has agreed to provide games, customised content and perks to AT&T customers through AT&T’s shelf in Android Market.

In the first deal of its kind for the casual developer, popular games like Words With Friends and Zynga Poker will be optimised for AT&T’s Android devices.

The release also reports the companies hope to find way to both increase battery life and network efficiency for gamers. AT&T customers will also receive free credits for selected Zynga titles.

"Zynga strives to provide the best mobile social game experience for our players wherever and whenever they want so our partnership with AT&T will offer an exciting and easy way to access our popular mobile games," said David Ko, Zynga’s senior VP of mobile.

Ted Woodbery, VP of wireless data, voice and ancillary services for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets spoke about the benefits the deal would have for gamers. "Speed enhances playing experience on mobile. This agreement combines the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network with a clear leader in mobile social games, ultimately bringing more value to our wireless customers’ playing experience."

Zynga could be planning to announce plans for an IPO this week, although such predictions have proved false in the past.

The company attracts around 270 million monthly active users to its Facebook games alone, and has an estimated value of $15 billion to $20 billion.
