Ziff Davis Game Group Announces New Editorial Management Roles
Simon Cox Named as Vice President of Content for 1UP Network
NEW YORK, August 23, 2007-Ziff Davis Game Group announced today two new leadership roles within the 1UP Network, the recognized authority in video game content and industry expertise, with an average of 15.8 million unique users per month online and 2 market leading print publications. Simon Cox, the longtime Game Group creative visionary, has been named vice president of content, while Dan "Shoe" Hsu, editor-in-chief, Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), has been promoted to editorial director.

Simon Cox, who has been with the Game Group for six years, was most recently the creative director for the 1UP Network, working in tandem with previous Senior Vice President and Editorial Director, John Davison, to shape the direction for all Game Group properties, both print and online. Cox has had vast experience in the editorial realm, launching four publications in addition to being editor-in-chief of Xbox Nation magazine (XBN), and GMR magazine for Ziff Davis Media, and the Official DreamCast Magazine for Future USA. In this new role, Cox will be managing all creative, editorial and site directors, developing and communicating the continued vision for the 1UP Network, drive content initiatives, and develop and guide Group integration and competitive strategies. Cox will report directly to Jason Young.
Dan Hsu, the face of EGM, the #1 video game publication in the U.S.* for nearly ten years, will remain editor-in-chief, while taking on the additional role as editorial director for the Game Group. In this position, Hsu will report directly to Simon Cox, contributing to the execution of the strategic vision for the Group, setting and maintaining the editorial voice of the 1UP Network, and fostering consistency and co-operation among the editorial brands. Hsu started his editorial career with the Game Group as an associate editor at EGM in 1996 before going on to become editor-in-chief at Gamers.com in 2000, returning a year later to EGM as editor-in-chief in 2001.
Former Senior VP and Editorial Director of the Game Group, John Davison, stepped down to be co-founder of a new company.
