Yves Behar designing Android console

"Any developer will be able to publish games, claims the listing, and all games will be free-to-play"

The man behind the Jawbone Jambox and One Laptop Per Child has joined forces with a number of industry names to create a $99 hackable game console called Ouya.

"Any developer will be able to publish games, claims the listing, and all games will be free to play."

The device will come with development tools and will connect with televisions, and is designed to be modified and used by Android developers to publish games. The Verge spotted the product online, while Kotaku hinted that there was more to come.

"Sources close to the project tell me there are even more surprises to what is an altogether out-of-left field new entrant into the home video game console wars."

Microsoft's ex vice-president of game publishing Ed Fries is also involved with the project, and IGN's Julie Uhrman is CEO.
