Xi
PlayStation Home-set "Alternate Reality game" chalks up over five million visits.
Farnborough, Hampshire – September 23rd 2009 - ‘Xi’, the world’s first console-based Alternate Reality game has now had over five million visits since it launched in March 2009. The game, set in the fast-growing PlayStation Home virtual world, ran for three months and also includes an ‘Alumni’ area which has been live in Home since the main game finished, allowing users to experience some of the content and to find out what Xi was all about.
Xi was created by UK developer/production company nDreams for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, and the game also ran in North America.
nDreams CEO, Patrick O’Luanaigh, said:
“We’re extremely proud of Xi and the fact that the Xi Hub has now had over five million visits is a major milestone for us. We’re huge fans of PlayStation Home, and we’re working hard to push the boundaries in terms of content. Our next space, the Pirate Galleon should launch in the next month, and will be the first Home apartment to feature a mini-game, music and prizes.”
