XGen Studios gains Nintendo developer status

Flash games specialist XGen has been approved as a Nintendo developer, as it announces it's to bring one of its popular franchises to the WiiWare platform.

Flash games specialist XGen has been approved as a Nintendo developer, as it announces it's to bring one of its popular franchises to the WiiWare platform.

And further fuelling speculation of a March launch for Nintendo's digital download service, XGen claims the game will be available to purchase in "early 2008".

"We're thrilled to announce that the classic game play enjoyed by millions is coming to your living room in the form of a new title with compelling additions," said Skye Boyes, president of XGen Studios

"We're taking advantage of the creative freedom afforded by WiiWare to bring fans a captivating co-op game, with great competitive elements and irresistibly charming art direction," he added.

XGen game are currently featured on portals including MTV, Shockwave.com, MiniClip, Virgin Games, FHM and Channel 4. Popular titles from the Canadian developer include Motherload, Stick Arena and Pillage the Village.
