Xbox to host summer showcase in Los Angeles later this year

But it's not yet clear whether this will be part of E3, Summer Games Fest or separate

Microsoft has confirmed it will hold a physical showcase of its upcoming games in Los Angeles this summer.

The news was revealed at the end of a blog post summing up the announcements from last night's Xbox Developer Direct.

While it gives no details or specific dates, the reference to the "return [of] our yearly showcase" suggests it's highly likely to be held in June around the same time as E3.

While both of its main rivals, Nintendo and Sony, have opted not to host physical presentations at E3 for several years, Xbox has always been a stable part of the annual trade show.

If this year's showcase is not part of E3, it's likely to instead be aligned with Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest, which he announced will have a physical presence in 2023.

It's also possible Microsoft will opt to host its own event separate of either larger festival.

E3 2023 will be organised by ReedPop, parent of GamesIndustry.biz, and our team is preparing its own presence at the show as well.
