Xbox One sales up by 15% for 2018

Record-setting start to the year for platform holder

Xbox One sales and the number of Xbox Live users has hit record levels in 2018 according to Microsoft.

Coupled with a 13 per cent increase in Xbox Live players, sales of the Xbox One are up by 15 per cent compared to the same period last year.

This is supported by recent figures from the NPD which attribute a four-year high point in US hardware sales to a strong performance by the Xbox One.

Although Microsoft stopped posting official sales figures for the Xbox One in 2014, the super-powered Xbox One X enjoyed a solid launch in the west last year, and is predicted to sell 17 million units by 2021.

Microsoft exclusives are also performing well, said the platform holder, and Sea of Thieves is reportedly the fastest-selling Microsoft IP of this console generation.

However, there is no indication whether this includes Xbox Game Pass users, or what proportion of players are on PC.
