Xbox Nation and GMR axed in US magazine cull

US magazine publisher Ziff-Davis has shut down two of its US games magazines, according to reports which emerged last night, with Xbox Nation and GMR both being axed in a revision of the firm's operations.

While the reasons for the closure of Xbox Nation have not been revealed, a report on US games website IGN claims that GMR, which was produced in collaboration with Electronics Boutique, shut down after the retail chain dropped its support for the publication.

Ziff-Davis continues to publish three other videogames magazines in the United States, namely Electronic Gaming Monthly, Computer Gaming World, and Official US PlayStation Magazine, along with group website 1up.com.
